Apprentice Materials Technician Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.
This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.
What will you do?
As a Construction Materials Technician Apprentice, you'll be part of a team delivering Sizewell C, a landmark nuclear power station that will power millions of homes with clean energy. This apprenticeship is your chance to learn, grow, and make a real impact while gaining hands‑on experience in materials science and quality assurance. In this role, you will:
- Work alongside experts to test construction materials like concrete, aggregates, and cement, ensuring they meet the high standards required for a nuclear project.
- Help bring materials testing into the 21st century by using new technologies, such as automated processes and digital reporting systems.
- Support the team in maintaining the UKAS accreditation of the laboratory, which means following strict quality and safety standards.
- Travel to site locations to collect materials and conduct tests, giving you the chance to experience both laboratory and fieldwork.
- Develop skills in non‑destructive testing (NDT) and other advanced techniques, setting you up for a rewarding career in materials science.
