Senior Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

What will you do?

  • The CWA is recruiting a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a critical backfill package within the Main Civil Works programme at Sizewell C.
  • This role sits at the heart of one of the UKs most significant infrastructure projects, responsible for shaping the early stages of construction that enable the safe and efficient delivery of major structures across the site.
  • The successful candidate will play a key leadership role across both pre-construction and delivery phases, driving collaboration between technical, commercial and operational teams.
  • From defining strategy and developing execution plans through to overseeing delivery on site, this role offers the opportunity to influence a complex, high-value package with national importance.
  • Leading the full lifecycle of the backfill package, from technical development through to on-site delivery.
  • Managing design coordination with client consultants, engineering teams and alliance partners to ensure buildable and efficient solutions.
  • Developing and validating construction methodologies, sequencing and 4D models to optimise programme delivery.
  • Overseeing cost planning, budgeting and financial performance, identifying risks and driving mitigations where required.
  • Supporting procurement activities including subcontractor scope definition, tendering and contract negotiation.
  • Defining the delivery strategy and producing the Project Execution Plan to enable programme mobilisation.
  • Driving safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery while maintaining the highest quality and compliance standards.
  • Managing construction progress, reporting to key stakeholders and ensuring alignment with programme milestones.
  • Leading quality assurance activities, including defining inspection strategies and managing on-site teams.
  • Identifying and resolving technical and operational challenges, while proactively managing risk across the package.
  • Managing interfaces with adjacent works, ensuring seamless integration across the wider programme.
  • Championing health, safety and environmental excellence, influencing teams and supply chain partners.
  • Ensuring effective resource planning and availability to meet delivery requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience leading large-scale civil engineering projects, ideally within complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong expertise in earthworks, excavation and backfill operations on major construction sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across functions.
  • Experience managing programme delivery, including planning, cost control and stakeholder reporting.
  • Knowledge of NEC4 contracts and working within joint ventures or alliances (desirable).
  • Professional membership with APM, PMI or similar.
  • CSCS Black Card (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership behaviours aligned to collaboration, clarity, respect and continuous improvement.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage complexity and drive results.
