Help shape the UK's energy future with a Senior Commercial Manager opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), supporting Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.
- Provides commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction.
- Manages the feedback of commercial data to Planning and Estimating.
- Maximises digital opportunities.
- Ability to review tenders & cost data.
- Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a project.
- Co-ordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actioned.
- Manage the preparation and review of Earned Value Management.
- Prepare the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
- Report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staff.
- Lead commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders.
- Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
- Understanding of disputes resolution including options, structure as well as knowledge of the SCL Protocol.
- Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts.
- Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles.
- Representation of the financial and contractual interests to your employer and/or client in progress meetings or the like.
- Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions.
- Management and reporting of Commercial Risk and Opportunity Management of disallowed cost.
- Experience in the recruitment and retention of staff.
- Onboarding and induction of staff ensuring commercial induction packs are drawn up and delivered.
- Manage and oversee team PDRs and identify & target the needs of individuals & self.
- Oversee & give advice on training & development including professional.
- Give feedback on strengths and weaknesses connecting plans for development of individuals.
- Determine project commercial staff requirement & liaison with HR for recruitment including temporary staff.
- Interviewing staff for lesser grades.
- Involvement with schools & universities to promote the construction industry and to support sponsored students.
- Liaise with all parties to ensure task/project remains on plan.
What are we looking for?
- Essential: BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
- Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES or CIOB.
- Desirable: Communication, Teamwork, Leadership, Strategic change Management, Achievement Focus (Achieving Results), Business and Customer Awareness, NEC 4 Contract proficiency.
