Help Shape the UKs Energy Future Marine Technical Lead Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.This role will be within theMarine and Tunnels Section. What will you do? The purpose of the role is to lead and control a section of the works, according to a specific discipline. To provide management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Agents, Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers. Responsible for management of Subcontracts associated to the delivery of the work package. To determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives, and constraints: time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. Health Safety & Environmental Approves and reviews Method Statements and Risk Assessments and makes improvements as appropriate Able to coordinate an Accident / Incident Investigation Carries out trend analysis and identifies improvement areas from audits and near misses Oversees vessel/site audits and confirms the sufficiency of control documentation Engineering Control Guides & coaches subordinates in technical requirements associated with offshore installation work scope Oversees and evaluates / approves supplier technical solutions Guides and coaches subordinates in resolution of construction issues, drawing on experience and accepted industry best practice Has input to design based on operational experience Quality Ownership of whole process of production, checking and submission of Handover Documentation Implements systems and processes to support construction of the works in accordance with the specification (eg ITPs, Materials Approval, NCR, Handover Documentation) Carries out trend analysis of the above and identifies improvement areas for nonconformance and business improvement Carries out Independent Inspections of their own section and of others Carries out Site Audits to check works and documentation compliance Coaches less experienced staff Liaise with designer and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues Productivity Produces a fully resourced stage programme in the accepted format / software Tracks and monitors KPI compliance and recommends improvements to maintain team production Establishes monitors of production, translated to graphical form from the Programme to aid understanding of current status and identification of requirements for intervention Cross references section programme to three weekly programme and ensures compatibility Commercial Maintains accurate diary, including dialogue with external organisations (subcontractors) Produces a budget from the resourced programme and monitors / reviews weekly costs Leads operational procurement of subcontractors Manages sub-contractors Understands cost and value Produces correspondence to sub-contractors, suppliers and Client Supports commercial team in AfP What are we looking for? Knowledge & Skills Essential Working knowledge of the NEC and other relevant forms of contract. Able to identify technical requirements and industry standard techniques associated with development & control of offshore/ marine activities. Able to review, approve, and support and implement a programme/schedule. Able to review & approve safe systems of work relating to offshore/ marine activities Knowledge of the Construction and Design Management (CDM) regulations. Strong communication skills with solution orientated approach to issue resolution. Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of managing a multi-disciplined team Wide ranging independent judgement evident Desirable Knowledge of DCO and MMO License applications and implementation. Knowledge of the pre-construction process. Qualifications & Experience Essential Engineering Degree. Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
managers and professionals. Experience with the development of programmes and schedules. Experience of managing Subcontractors >5years experience on offshore/marine projects. Desirable Professional accreditation or working towards professional accreditation. Offshore sea survival qualification.
