Help shape the UK's energy future by supporting the building of Sizewell C, a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.

The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a Deputy Engineering Manager to manage and coordinate construction engineering for the Enabling Works and Earthworks portions during the delivery phase. The role is site-based to ensure Engineering Delivery Excellence through the adoption of engineering processes, procedures, and best practices.

The scope of the Earthworks and Enabling works forms the initial portion of the Civil Works Programme for the SZC project and includes the construction of significant civil engineering elements critical to the construction and operation of SZC. These include:

  • Access bridges
  • Sea defence
  • Retaining structures
  • Environmental barriers
  • TBM Launch Shafts
  • Marine delivery structures

The Deputy Engineering Manager will manage right first-time delivery of engineering activities, coordinating across the disciplines of Methods, Temporary/Permanent Works, Digital Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Survey. The role involves working alongside technical leads for pre-construction and engineering disciplines, clients, and stakeholders to manage complex technical interfaces.

The complexity of the works will require collaboration with support functions including procurement, commercial, information management, digital engineering, and project controls to ensure robust project management principles are in place to support efficient delivery. The Deputy Engineering Manager will assist in establishing and managing a delivery strategy in accordance with the procedures set out by the industry, the Civil Works Alliance, and Sizewell C.

The CWA is a single delivery organisation made up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues, and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry-leading packages including market-leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme, and other flexible benefits.

The CWA celebrates the creativity and innovation that comes from a diverse workforce, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those from under-represented communities. Our project is built on five core values: Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity. By joining us, you'll be encouraged to bring your whole self to work, speak up, and share your ideas. We encourage applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
