Role overview
The Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing and developing our clients existing client portfolio, with a particular focus on fire alarm systems and fire protection services within the data centre sector.
The role will be approximately 75% focused on existing key accounts and 25% focused on new business development, with the aim of strengthening client relationships, increasing revenue across existing accounts and identifying new commercial opportunities within data centres.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background within fire alarm installation, gained through quoting and surveying on data centre projects, combined with commercial experience in quoting, surveying and developing fire alarm installation opportunities.
Roles and responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of key existing accounts, with approximately 75% of the role focused on account management and 25% on new business development.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, particularly within the data centre and critical infrastructure sectors.
- Develop a detailed understanding of client requirements, operational needs and fire protection systems to identify opportunities for additional works and services.
- Conduct site surveys for fire alarm installation, upgrades and remedial works, ensuring requirements are accurately captured.
- Prepare accurate and commercially competitive quotations and proposals for fire alarm installation.
- Work closely with engineering and operational teams to ensure quotations accurately reflect technical requirements, labour, materials and project scope.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional fire protection services across existing accounts.
- Develop new business opportunities within target sectors, with a particular focus on data centres, critical infrastructure and high-value commercial environments.
- Actively participate in sales opportunities from initial enquiry and site survey through to quotation, negotiation and successful close.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Summary of Sales Capabilities/Competencies
- Experienced in a Key Account Manager, Account Manager, Business Development Manager or similar role within the Fire sector.
- Strong background in fire alarm installation, ideally gained within the data centre sector.
- Previous experience working on data centre, critical infrastructure or other high-specification commercial projects.
- Proven experience of quoting for fire alarm installation projects.
- Experienced in conducting or supporting site surveys for fire alarm installation, upgrades and remedial works.
- Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of pricing, margins, quotations and project requirements.
- Proven sales experience within the fire protection industry (including fire alarms, extinguishers, and suppression systems).
- Strong understanding of BS 5839 and associated fire safety standards.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
