Our client is an established supplier of knitwear to many UK retailers. We are looking for an experienced Senior Knitwear Designer to join our team and play a key role in driving design excellence across our knitwear collections. This is a hands-on, collaborative role for someone who enjoys being in the studio, working closely with sampling, and seeing designs through from concept to bulk production. You'll bring strong commercial awareness, technical confidence, and a proactive mindset - helping to push the team forward while delivering high-quality, customer-focused design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop knitwear collections from initial concept through to bulk approval
  • Collaborate closely with the in-house sample unit to develop, refine, and problem-solve designs
  • Work directly with factories, mills, and yarn suppliers to ensure quality, feasibility, and innovation
  • Manage critical paths, sample rounds, and bulk approvals to meet deadlines
  • Create clear, compelling design layouts and visuals for internal and customer presentations
  • Present work confidently to customers, clearly explaining design rationale and commercial decisions
  • Balance customer requirements with business objectives and commercial targets

Skills & Experience

  • 5-8+ years of professional knitwear design experience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design development, problem solving, and commercial awareness
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Strong command of layout, typography, colour theory, and composition
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging visuals
  • Experience working directly with factories, mills, and yarn suppliers
  • Confident communicator with experience presenting to customers
