We are working with a very successful supplier to find a Menswear License Designer.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Identifying and understanding the end consumer for specific retailers and their needs for proper range building.
- Guiding customers/buyers on market trends, fashion & Licensed-specific apparel.
- Developing ranges and products for customers.
- Presenting ranges to Buyers including mood boards and research.
- Daily contact with sales and technical teams within the UK office.
- Developing and sourcing new trims and fabrics.
- Producing accurate and detailed CAD drawings and accurate artwork files for product sampling.
- Ensuring that samples produced are accurate in line with specification.
- Carrying out trend research and analysis and creating mood boards and colour trends, including "Comp Shop" trips within the UK + European travel.
- Attending industry trade fairs and maintaining a strong awareness of current product on the High Street.
- Liaising with Licensors on a regular basis to ensure full and up to date knowledge of respective properties, including attendance at licensor specific events, e.g. showcases.
Experience / Skills:
- High level of experience working as a licensed apparel designer in required product area with strong commercial 'handwriting' in a supplier environment.
- Professional personal presentation with excellent customer presentation and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- On-trend, with great commercial forecasting ability.
- Possess a strong understanding of fabric and trim bases, graphics and embellishment, garment specs/fits as required.
- Strong CAD skills with a working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Confidence in range development with a strong ability to predict fashion and license trends and customise them into commercial products in order to meet the expectations of the customer.
- Sound knowledge of garment construction as well as the ability to produce accurate and detailed spec drawings.
- Highly organised and capable of working to and managing deadlines, working as part of a team and individually self-motivated.
- Able to travel both in the UK and abroad.
- Strong organisational skills and accuracy critical.
