As a Senior Garment Technologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful development, production, and quality control of our product. You will work closely with the customer as well as internal stakeholders in design, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure that garments meet the required fit specifications and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Garment Development: Collaborate with the design team during the initial garment development stage. Review and provide technical input on design sketches, patterns, and prototypes to ensure feasibility, fit, and manufacturability.
- Garment Construction & Pattern Alterations: Have excellent knowledge of garment construction. Be able to amend patterns – both manually and digitally – to ensure correct fitting of garments. Create detailed and accurate measurement charts and graded spec sheets for bulk production.
- Garment Fittings: Conduct internal fit sessions with models or fit mannequins as required. Assess fit, comfort, and overall appearance of the garments, making necessary adjustments. Attend customer fit sessions when necessary and ensure the customer’s comments are followed through for bulk production.
- Fabric and Material Testing: Coordinate with suppliers and factories to ensure fabrics and materials meet performance and quality standards.
- Manufacturing Process: Collaborate with the production team and factories to optimize the manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all garments adhere to relevant regulations and meet the company’s social responsibility and ethical guidelines.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address technical challenges or production issues that may arise during the development and production process. Offer innovative solutions to improve garment quality and efficiency.
- Team Management: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior garment technologists, pattern makers, and other relevant team members.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to facilitate smooth production processes and timely deliveries.
- Factory Visits: Required to travel to factories when necessary to conduct fittings, oversee production quality, and resolve technical issues on-site.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in a Garment Technologist role, preferably in ladies’ wear.
- Excellent technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting and alteration, grading, sizing, fit evaluation, and manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to amend patterns digitally using relevant software. Optitex preferred.
- Proficiency in using software for pattern development and grading (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD).
- Knowledge of fabric properties, performance testing, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
