We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Junior Buyer to support the creation and delivery of innovative, profitable product ranges. This role will play a key part in sourcing, developing, and managing products from concept through to bulk delivery, ensuring ranges are aligned with commercial strategy and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design (where applicable), and source commercially viable ranges for wholesale and retail markets.
- Manage the end-to-end product development process and critical path to ensure on-time delivery.
- Present seasonal ranges and product boards to senior management and sales teams.
- Work closely with QA and Design to achieve the best fit and product quality.
- Negotiate cost prices and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Manage customer briefs, develop proposals, and identify opportunities for new product categories.
- Support sourcing and onboarding of new suppliers in line with brand strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sales, QA, and Shipping to ensure smooth product lifecycle.
- Analyse performance, monitor competitor activity, and identify future trends to maximise sales and margins.
- Oversee seasonal product boards, CAD packs, and customer presentations.
- Manage sampling, photography requirements, and travel budgets under manager guidance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior members of the team where applicable.
What We're Looking For
- 3-4 years' experience in product development, buying, or design within fashion.
- Strong knowledge of garments, fabrics, construction, and factory capabilities.
- Proven ability to balance creative flair with commercial acumen.
- Excellent organisational and critical path management skills.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.
- Numerate, with confidence in margin calculations and costings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator (CAD packages).
- Strong presentation skills (visual, verbal, and written).
- Self-motivated, resilient, and able to work under pressure to deadlines.
- Degree in fashion, textiles, buying, or design (preferred).
