The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate stock control across the retail estate. This position requires strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving stock accuracy, reducing loss, and supporting internal functions including Retail Operations, Finance, and Logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Stock Management
    • Oversee and monitor stock files and stock control processes to ensure data integrity.
    • Manage the store stock take schedule with Retail Operations and external partners.
    • Support system and store preparation for stock takes, including coordinating processes during the event.
    • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
    • Maintain regular communication with stores and coordinate stock transfers when required.
  • Process Improvement
    • Work collaboratively with Retail Operations to refine procedures and improve stock accuracy.
    • Review current stock control workflows and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Analysis & Reporting
    • Produce regular and ad-hoc stock reports.
    • Analyse stock take outcomes and recommend improvements.
    • Monitor trends and contribute to stock loss reduction through data insights.
  • Communication & Support
    • Act as the first point of contact for all Logistics Helpdesk stock control queries.
    • Communicate effectively with functions such as Retail Operations, IT, and Finance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall IT capability.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and producing reports.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX (or similar ERP systems).
  • Retail industry experience or graduate-level exposure.
  • Commercial awareness and interest in stock control processes.
