A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Merchandiser to join a fast-growing multi-channel fashion business. Reporting to the Senior Merchandiser, you will support the development and delivery of the merchandising strategy across key product categories. This role plays a vital part in ensuring commercial, balanced ranges that meet customer needs and drive sales performance across ecommerce, retail, and marketing channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Range Development
- Support the creation and execution of the overarching merchandising strategy.
- Conduct detailed analysis of product performance, identifying opportunities and risks to influence future planning.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends, competitor pricing, and product activity.
- Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to manage seasonal planning and critical path milestones.
- Review historical and in-season performance to guide range builds and option planning.
- Produce catalogue and channel-based performance insights to optimise future space allocation where relevant.
- Develop category and subcategory plans aligned to business targets.
- Provide merchandising insight throughout pre-selection and selection stages, contributing key metrics to shape decision-making.
- Align with cross-functional teams on hero products, featured styles, and marketing focuses.
- Continuously refine merchandising tools, documents, and planning processes.
- Order & Stock Management
- Plan forward orders considering lead times, launch schedules, capacity, and cash flow.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of seasonal order templates.
- Ensure delivery trackers are accurate, up to date, and effectively communicated across the business.
- Lead in-season trading activities, aligning actions to the trading calendar.
- Produce weekly merchandising reports and provide insights to drive commercial trading decisions.
- Partner with Marketing to ensure promotional and email activity aligns with stock availability and trading priorities.
- Identify repeat opportunities and propose actions to maximise sales and margin.
- Oversee back-order management and fulfilment processes.
- Support in preparing merchandising updates for senior and board-level reviews.
- Manage and optimise the clearance section across digital channels.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain positive supplier relationships, understanding lead times and production capabilities to unlock supply chain opportunities.
- Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure smooth stock flow and aligned decision-making.
- Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Manage and develop Merchandise Admin Assistants, providing coaching, structure, and support.
- Ensure all systems, documents, and processes are accurate and up to date.
- Champion clear communication across the business, ensuring effective information flow.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment.
- Carry out additional tasks as required to support the overall success of the merchandising function.
What We’re Looking For
- 5-8 years’ experience within merchandising, ideally within fashion.
- Previous experience as a Senior Assistant Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser.
- Experience leading and developing junior team members.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator, able to challenge and influence cross-functionally.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload at pace.
- Knowledge of merchandising processes and critical path management.
- Highly collaborative with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
