The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a fast-growing B2B SaaS organisation that is scaling its product suite and engineering capability at pace, with ambitious growth plans of around 20% year-on-year. Their platform operates at significant scale, processing high volumes of real-time data to deliver actionable insights to customers globally. As part of this growth, they are now looking for a Director of Software Development to take ownership of their engineering development function and drive performance, quality, and delivery across multiple teams. This is a high-impact leadership role, working closely with the CTO to shape how engineering operates in a modern, product-led SaaS environment.

The Role

  • Own the end-to-end software development function, ensuring high performance, scalability, and quality
  • Lead and develop Software Development Managers and their teams across the UK and offshore
  • Drive a culture of continuous delivery, with small, frequent releases into production
  • Embed and evolve modern DevOps practices, including trunk-based development and automation
  • Use engineering metrics (e.g. DORA) to improve delivery, efficiency, and team performance
  • Partner closely with the CTO on technology strategy, roadmap, and future capability
  • Balance delivery at pace with sustainable engineering practices and long‑term platform health

Technology Environment

  • High‑throughput, near real‑time data processing
  • Continuous deployment with feature flags controlling release
  • Frontend: Vue.js

About You

  • We’re looking for someone who has progressed from a hands‑on software engineering background into senior leadership
  • Is currently operating at Director, Head of Engineering, or Senior Engineering Manager level
  • Has experience leading managers and multiple engineering teams
  • Understands modern SaaS environments, DevOps, and continuous delivery in depth
  • Is comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, scaling environment where you can influence change
