About the Role

An established industrial operation is seeking an experienced HGV & Plant Maintenance Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of a mixed fleet of heavy vehicles and site plant equipment. This is a hands‑on position offering a varied workload, day‑shift hours and the opportunity to work across a range of specialist machinery in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on HGVs and plant equipment
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Conduct routine safety checks and maintenance inspections
  • Prepare equipment for statutory inspections and compliance testing
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
  • Attend local breakdowns and emergency repairs when required
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Time‑served engineer with relevant industry experience
  • Strong fault‑finding and repair skills covering diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively

Desirable

  • Experience within plant, quarrying, construction materials, industrial processing or heavy engineering environments
  • Knowledge of statutory inspection requirements and compliance standards
  • Previous experience maintaining HGVs and mobile plant equipment
