We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to oversee daily workshop operations within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead a team of welders and fabricators, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements are consistently achieved. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on supervisor with a strong fabrication and welding background looking to progress within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day workshop operations
- Supervise and support a team of welders and fabricators
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to engineering specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans
- Allocate workloads and monitor productivity across the shop floor
- Maintain high standards of quality control and workmanship
- Support production planning and delivery schedules
- Order, organise, and manage materials and stock levels
- Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and company policies
- Assist with training and development of workshop personnel
- Liaise with management and other departments to ensure smooth operations
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience in a Fabrication Supervisor or Workshop Supervisor role
- Strong fabrication and welding background within an engineering environment
- Experience with mild steel and aluminium fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations within manufacturing/workshop environments
- Forklift licence or additional engineering qualifications beneficial but not essential
Qualifications
- Engineering or fabrication-related qualification preferred
- Welding/fabrication certifications advantageous
