A well-established and growing engineering-focused organisation is seeking a Mechanical Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its team based in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys a mix of workshop and field-based work, with regular UK travel.

The Role

You will be responsible for the commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and repair of specialist machinery, both on-site in Sheffield and at customer locations across the UK. This is a varied role with a slight mechanical bias, offering plenty of autonomy and technical challenge.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation, commissioning, and servicing of machinery in both workshop and field environments
  • Attending customer sites nationwide for maintenance, repairs, and breakdown support
  • Completing digital work orders and reports via tablet
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Supporting continuous improvement with proactive ideas and solutions
  • Maintaining stock levels of spare parts within service vehicles
  • Assisting with equipment demonstrations and exhibitions when required
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and trainees

About You

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer (multi-skilled)
  • Strong mechanical skills with basic electrical competence
  • Experience working on similar machinery or automated equipment (training provided)
  • Understanding of PLCs / HMIs (Siemens, Unitronics or similar advantageous)
  • Comfortable working at customer sites with strong communication skills
  • Highly organised with good problem-solving ability
  • IT literate (experience with maintenance systems or ERP software beneficial)
  • Full UK driving licence essential

Desirable:

  • FLT licence
  • Welding experience (MMA/Stick)
  • Experience with networking or PLC programming
