We are supporting a leading UK automation and systems integration business based in Telford who are looking to appoint a Senior Controls Engineer. This is a senior level role focused on the design and delivery of complex industrial control systems across heavy engineering environments. The role is predominantly office based, circa 90 percent, and will suit an experienced Controls Engineer who enjoys full project lifecycle ownership from design through to commissioning support. The business has a strong pipeline of work within heavy industry, with a particular focus on large drive systems.

Experience within Steel, Paper, Metals or similar process driven environments is highly desirable. Due to the seniority of the position, a BEng, BSE or Level 6 qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and delivery of industrial control systems across full project lifecycle
  • Production of control system documentation including FDS, SRS, network architecture and electrical design outputs
  • PLC, HMI and SCADA software development and configuration
  • Review of hardware designs and coordination with design teams
  • Support with Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing
  • Commissioning support when required on customer sites
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards and internal procedures
  • Support technical delivery of projects against agreed milestones
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Controls Engineering
  • Strong background in industrial automation and electrical control systems
  • Experience with large drive systems is highly desirable
  • Background in Steel, Paper, Metals, Heavy Manufacturing or similar environments preferred
  • Strong PLC and SCADA experience
  • Confident communicator with strong problem-solving ability
  • Able to work independently within a senior technical role
