A leading packaging manufacturer in Northampton is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team due to continued growth and investment across the site. THE ROLE

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner
  • Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Work with PLC-controlled machinery (fault diagnosis, not necessarily programming)
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company standards

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Multi-skilled maintenance background (electrical and mechanical)
  • Experience within manufacturing or packaging environments
  • Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and motors
  • PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens / Allen Bradley desirable)
  • Ability to work independently on shift and respond to breakdowns effectively
  • Apprenticeship trained or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

SHIFT PATTERN

Currently working a Double Days shift pattern (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00), with a planned transition to a 3-shift rota by the end of the year.
