An established food manufacturing business is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead site engineering and facilities operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring all assets are maintained to a safe, reliable and efficient standard in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will take ownership of the engineering function, driving performance, developing the team and delivering continuous improvement across maintenance, projects and site services. This role requires a strong leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on operational control.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all engineering activities to support business objectives and operational performance
- Plan, manage and control the maintenance budget to deliver plant performance and cost targets
- Develop, train and manage the engineering team, including effective use of external contractors
- Ensure availability of spares and consumables to support production and minimise downtime
- Plan and implement preventative maintenance strategies to maximise plant uptime and reliability
- Set engineering standards, measure performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety and statutory requirements across all engineering activity
- Plan and deliver maintenance of site utilities to ensure efficiency and reliability within budget
- Lead capital projects from feasibility through to installation and successful commissioning
- Work closely with senior leadership to plan, prioritise and deliver engineering projects
Requirements
- Experience in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in an engineering management or senior engineering leadership role
- Strong understanding of maintenance strategy, reliability and plant performance
- Experience managing budgets and engineering teams
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety or strong HSE awareness
- Ability to lead, influence and communicate effectively at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with a structured and disciplined approach
