As a Maintenance Engineer at our Braintree site, you\’ll play a vital role in supporting automation systems and general site infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance through a mix of preventative and reactive maintenance.
💼 The Role:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and fast response to breakdowns
- PLC fault finding and working with sensors, metal detectors, conveyors, belts, motors, bearings
- Supporting site automation and mechanical handling systems
- Monitoring and reporting through the site CMMS system
- Liaising with and overseeing external contractors
- Adhering to and enforcing Permit to Work and health & safety protocols
- Contributing to team discussions and decision‑making on efficiency improvements
🛠️ What You\’ll Need:
- Time‑served apprenticeship and recognised electrical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.)
- Experience working in automated or distribution/warehouse environments preferred
- Competence in:
- PLC fault finding
- Conveyors, belts, and drive systems
- Sensors and metal detectors
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, gearboxes, and bearings
- Basic mechanical skills (fitting, fault finding)
- Comfortable using IT systems and CMMS platforms
- Good spoken and written English
- Desirable: knowledge of refrigeration systems, food hygiene, and H&S practices
