An established UK manufacturer is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to its site engineering team. The role focuses on maintaining plant and facilities to a high standard, reducing downtime, and supporting safe, efficient production operations.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across plant and site facilities
- Reduce equipment downtime while maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards
- Support the ongoing improvement of machinery reliability and site performance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety and environmental standards
- Record and close maintenance tasks accurately using a computerised maintenance system
- Work closely with production, engineering and support teams across the site
- Assist with engineering improvements and cost‑effective repair solutions
- Contribute to achieving site targets for output, quality and safety
Requirements
- Time served mechanical apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding capability
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Exposure to TPM and planned preventative maintenance systems
- Good awareness of health, safety and environmental practices
- Comfortable supporting others within a team environment
- Confident using IT systems for reporting and documentation
- Welding experience, MIG and MMA
- Previous experience in a senior or lead maintenance capacity
