We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join a busy manufacturer in Coalville. This is a practical, leadership role where you will guide a small maintenance team, take ownership of planned and reactive tasks, and set the standard for safety, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a small maintenance team (Maintenance Manager, newly qualified engineer, apprentice, experienced engineer) on day-to-day mechanical tasks
- Take a hands-on approach with breakdowns, PPMs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure Health & Safety policies are followed and lead by example
- Support team development through training, mentoring, and guidance
- Manage job reporting and maintain accurate records
- Organise spares, critical assets, and consumables
- Assist with contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to site procedures
- Stand in for the Maintenance Manager when required
- Be part of the call-out rota (1 in /4)
Candidate Requirements:
- Completed Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic knowledge with understanding of electrical systems
- Proven experience leading or supervising a maintenance team
- Ability to challenge and support team members to achieve performance and quality standards
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Flexible and willing to cover on-call duties and overtime
