We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong maintenance professional with leadership experience to take responsibility for the reliability, safety and efficiency of plant machinery and equipment.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, lead a team of technicians and drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate and supervise maintenance activities across plant machinery and systems to minimise downtime.
- Lead and support a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training and supervision.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations and operational requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and automation faults using schematics, technical manuals and diagnostic equipment.
- Manage maintenance-related projects, including equipment upgrades, repairs and installations, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee the use and optimisation of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) within automation and control systems.
- Analyse equipment performance and maintenance data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history and spare parts.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and reliability across the manufacturing operation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience managing or supervising maintenance teams within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple maintenance requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, schematics and automation controls.
- Practical experience working with PLCs and automated machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with solid electrical experience.
- Experience implementing and managing preventative maintenance programmes.
- A proactive approach to fault finding, problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Good written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and complete technical documentation.
- A relevant engineering or technical qualification is desirable.
- Management or project management qualifications would be advantageous.
