We’re looking for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established and expanding industrial processing facility near Barking. The site operates within a fast‑paced production environment, processing organic materials as part of its operations. Due to continued growth, the company is strengthening its engineering team, offering long‑term stability and excellent opportunities for career development.

This role would suit an engineer with both mechanical and electrical experience who enjoys working in a practical, industrial setting and is keen to further develop their skills within a modern, process‑focused facility. You’ll become part of a supportive team where your contribution is recognised and professional growth is encouraged. This is a full‑time, permanent position.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plant equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, processing vessels, and digesters
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Support reactive maintenance activities and complete maintenance records and documentation
  • Assist with contractor coordination and third‑party servicing activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase plant reliability and efficiency
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures

Hours

4 on / 4 off shift pattern, 12‑hour rotating day and night shifts (6am‑6pm / 6pm‑6am)

Pay

Basic salary: 55,000, increasing to 57,000 after probation. Overtime available, with potential earnings up to 62,000 annually.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical/electrical qualification
  • Experience within manufacturing, production, processing, or similar industrial environments
  • Comfortable working hands‑on in industrial conditions, including working at height
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team
  • Flexible approach to shift work and working hours
