About the Company

We are a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in Coventry, supplying high-quality products to major retailers and customers across the UK. Due to continued investment and expansion, we are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of production equipment across our manufacturing facility. Working on a permanent days shift, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities while supporting continuous improvement projects throughout the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out welding and fabrication work as required to support maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Operate workshop machinery and undertake machining tasks including the manufacture and modification of components.
  • Produce and amend engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise plant performance and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment, ideally food manufacturing.
  • Strong welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience using manual machining equipment such as lathes and milling machines.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and the ability to create and modify engineering drawings.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, and general production equipment.
  • A recognised engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent) is desirable.
  • A proactive approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.
