We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing and innovative engineering business specialising in bespoke machinery, automation systems, and beverage packaging equipment. Reporting directly into the engineering team, you will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of bespoke machinery projects from concept through to manufacture, testing and installation.

This is a hands-on position suited to an engineer who enjoys both designing machinery and getting involved on the shop floor. Working closely with production, controls engineers and project teams, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, helping to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions. Role Description:
  • Design and develop bespoke machinery and automation equipment
  • Design conveyors, handling systems and food/beverage packaging machinery
  • Create 3D models, assemblies and technical drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Produce robust, cost-effective and manufacturable engineering designs
  • Work on sheet metal, stainless steel fabrication and automation-focused projects
  • Support R&D, prototyping, testing and new machine development
  • Collaborate with production, project management and service teams
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and design challenges
  • Support machine build, testing, installation and commissioning activities
  • Contribute ideas to improve machine performance, efficiency and build quality
  • Manage projects from concept through to production
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience within machinery manufacturing, automation or a related engineering environment
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Strong mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills
  • Experience designing bespoke machinery, conveyors or handling equipment
  • Good understanding of sheet metal, fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Autodesk Inventor experience essential
  • Autodesk Vault experience desirable
  • Hands-on engineering mindset with practical problem-solving ability
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
