Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary & Benefits: £24.00 - £26.00 per hour (dependent on experience), 47.5 hours per week, Overtime paid at £32.00 per hour, 28 days holiday including bank holidays, Company pension scheme.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 17:00
  • Saturday: 07:00 - 12:00 (when required)
  • Additional hours may be required for maintenance and emergency repairs.

The Opportunity:

A well-established recycling and aggregates operation in Kirkby is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Plant Fitter to join its maintenance team. This role is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of heavy plant and wash plant machinery to ensure safe and efficient site operations. The successful candidate will work on equipment including excavators, loading shovels, crushers, screeners, and wash plant systems within a busy recycling yard environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment uptime.
  • Inspect and maintain wash plant systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Monitor machinery and wash plant performance.
  • Assist in reducing downtime through proactive maintenance.
  • Support operational efficiency across the recycling facility.
  • Follow all site health & safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure machinery operates in line with safety standards.
  • Report and address any equipment or safety concerns promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working on excavators, loading shovels, crushers, or screeners.
  • Previous wash plant maintenance experience is highly desirable.
  • Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting and record keeping.
  • Good understanding of health & safety within an industrial environment.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or within a team.
  • Flexible to work overtime and weekends when operationally required.
