The Role
We are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join a well-established manufacturing site operating within a fast-paced production environment. You will work as part of a skilled engineering team ensuring plant, production, and packing equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role suits a hands-on, time-served engineer with strong fault-finding ability and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with engineering colleagues and production teams via shift logs and email systems
- Accurately record data and plant readings, including industrial refrigeration systems
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise downtime
- Use planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems effectively
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production
- Work on a wide variety of equipment including:
- Pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems
- Three-phase electrics, inverters and PLCs
- Compressed air systems
- Industrial refrigeration
- Mechanical components such as bearings and drives
About You
- Time-served engineer or completed apprenticeship (electrical qualification preferred)
- Strong background in manufacturing or FMCG environments
- Practical, hands-on mindset - "old school" engineer style with solid fault-finding skills
- Willing to learn site-specific equipment and systems
The Package
- Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
- Overtime available
- On-call rota: Weekends only during peak period (April-December), £50 call-out fee regardless of attendance
- Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee (NEST)
- Life assurance: x2 salary
- Holidays: 30 days + Christmas shutdown (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day)
- No bank holiday shutdown - production runs as normal with enhanced holiday entitlement
