We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business to recruit a Field Service Engineer with a strong electrical bias. This is a varied and hands-on role combining installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and customer support, alongside involvement in machine build and development.
This position offers a great balance between site-based work and field service, with opportunities to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out installation, commissioning, and servicing of specialist machinery at customer sites
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Respond to breakdowns within 24-48 hours
- Perform planned maintenance and preventative servicing
- Deliver customer training on safe operation and basic maintenance
- Support in-house manufacturing activities, including wiring, control panel assembly, and machine build/testing
- Assist with development and troubleshooting of control systems, including some programming work where required
- Travel across the UK regularly, with occasional European travel (2-3 times per year)
- Approximately 50% site-based / 50% field-based
- Candidates must be located within 1 hour of the company's site
- Regular UK travel with occasional international trips
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Field Service Engineer or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering role
- Strong electrical bias with good mechanical understanding
- Experience with control systems and wiring/control panels
- Basic programming knowledge (e.g. C++) or willingness to learn
- Full UK driving licence
