Quality Manager / Lead Inspector
Location: Poole, Dorset
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE)
Type: Permanent, Full-time
A well-established precision engineering business is looking for an experienced Quality Manager / Lead Inspector to take ownership of its quality function, supporting customers across the Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear sectors.
This is a hands-on leadership role, managing the Quality function while remaining involved in inspection, metrology and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality team
- Maintain and improve AS9100 / ISO9001 systems
- Manage internal, customer and supplier audits
- Handle NCRs, concessions, 8D reports and root cause investigations
- Carry out dimensional inspection and CMM programming
- Lead FAI activities and maintain quality documentation
- Manage calibration and supplier quality
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong quality culture
Requirements
- Previous Quality experience within precision engineering/manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001
- Experience within Aerospace, Defence or Nuclear desirable
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances
- Strong metrology/CMM experience
- Experience with NCRs, 8D and root cause analysis
- Previous leadership or team-leading experience
Desirable: AS9102 knowledge, machining/welding experience, ERP/MRP experience and internal auditor training.
