My client is looking for a Financial Services savvy professional to join them as a Trainee Technical Administrator. The ideal candidate will have worked in holistic financial planning in the capacity of an administrator who is looking to further their career. My client's offices are just outside of the city centre to the East of Norwich, and they are a close-knit group, who are extremely friendly and supportive with excellent staff retention. This role has arisen out of a requirement for further adviser support. Starting salary level £32,500 + company pension, death in service policy as well as other perks.

The position of Trainee Technical Advisory Support will involve shadowing my client's current Compliance & Training Manager in respect of the duties and tasks detailed below. My client anticipates the period of training to last for 12-15 months, at which point (subject to satisfactory progress) the role will then change to Technical Advisory Support. You will perform faithfully and diligently all acts, duties and obligations consistent with the position of a Technical Advisory Support.
The key tasks of Technical Advisory Support will include the following:
- Suitability report / letter preparation
- Key Features Illustration and application preparation
- To provide suitability advice, support and guidance to all advisers pre-sale for all new potential recommendations
- To assist advisers in all aspects of Post Retirement Cashflow Modelling by compiling reports using the SelectaPension Cashflow System
- To assist advisers in all aspects of Money Purchase Pension Transfers (Pension Switching) by compiling reports using the SelectaPension Pension Switching System
- To be proficient in the use of Financial Express Analytics and its use in Portfolio Construction
- Rebalancing of portfolios through fund buys/sales as part of the ongoing review process
- To have a good understanding of the Finametrica Risk Profiling system and its use in evaluating a client's risk profile and capacity for loss
- To assist in completion of monthly Market Commentary
- To arrange Quarterly Company Meetings (including venues and guest presenters/speakers)
- To act as the main point of contact for my clients for representatives of Investment and Insurance Firms
- To assist advisers in client tax planning
Full training will be given. This will primarily be through one-to-one and on-the-job training. My client will also encourage the development of greater technical knowledge through participation in courses and seminars and through CII examinations/qualifications, which will be supported by the company (Study material plus first exam entry and study leave). Consideration will also be given to allocating one half day every week (or one day every 2 weeks) for additional study leave for examinations or other structured training.
Key Skills:
- Technical knowledge of products and tax wrappers
- Desirable - Previous understanding of compliance processes within an IFA practice
- Desirable - Experience of Intelliflo and Transact
- Previous experience in administration processes within an IFA practice
- Administration of pensions including UFPLS and FAD, investments including WRAPs and life insurance
- Articulate, good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work within established team structure
- Ability to prioritise workload and perform to a high standard in a pressurised environment
- Attention to detail
My client is a long-established, busy practice who currently have assets under management of £250 million. My client's back-office system is Intelligent Office, which is used for all admin processes, including the payment of adviser fees.
