About the Company: A well-established and highly respected Town Planning and Heritage Consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior to Principal Heritage Consultant to join their growing team in Knutsford. Known for their strong success rate in securing heritage consents and supporting sensitive developments, they work across a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, leisure, and public sector projects. Their client base includes housebuilders, developers, hotel and leisure operators, public bodies, and private estates - all with a shared need for expert heritage advice and support.
Role Overview: This is a unique opportunity for a heritage professional ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will work on a broad portfolio of heritage-led projects, providing specialist advice and guiding clients through complex planning and conservation processes. At Principal level, candidates will also be expected to contribute to team leadership, business development, and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on heritage planning, conservation, and historic environment matters
- Prepare Heritage Statements, Impact Assessments, and supporting documentation
- Manage a variety of heritage and planning applications, including appeals
- Engage with clients, local authorities, conservation officers, and wider stakeholders
- Represent clients at meetings, planning committees, and public consultations
- Assist in mentoring junior staff and contribute to team development
- Support business development by identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposals
Key Skills & Experience:
- Relevant degree in heritage, archaeology, planning, conservation, or a related field
- Membership of IHBC or a similar professional body is highly desirable
- Extensive experience working in a consultancy or similar heritage planning role
- Strong knowledge of UK heritage legislation, planning policy, and conservation principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
