We seek a proactive and dedicated individual to strategically and operationally manage the pastoral welfare of our students, upholding our school's core values.
Tipton Green College is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in Tipton, the college meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 11-19 with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and require support with anxiety and depression.
In this key role you will support the management of the pastoral welfare requirements at our school, strategically and operationally. You will ensure that the ethos and standards are delivered at the school. You'll be a pivotal figure in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment, empowering students to reach their full potential. What you’ll get to do:
- Strategic Leadership: Take the strategic lead in managing the safety and attendance of all learners. Be responsible for the implementation of the school’s systems, procedures, and policies in relation to attendance and punctuality. Assist the Headteacher in helping to develop procedures with regards to pastoral provision for all learners.
- Team & Student Support: Foster a positive and ambitious team ethos, motivating and supporting staff. Monitor staff work, provide constructive challenge, and lead engaging assemblies.
- Communication & Collaboration: Be an exemplary leader in dealings with staff, pupils, parents, and outside agencies. Liaise with teachers to make appropriate arrangements for classes when staff are unexpectedly absent, ensuring appropriate cover within the year groups.
- Staff Development & Recruitment: Conduct appraisal reviews and contribute to the effective induction of new staff. Participate in interviews and promote the school at open days and events.
- Safeguarding & Intervention: Participate in Positive Handling and de-escalation techniques training. Promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people that you are responsible for or encounter.
