Our client are an industry leader in their field and are now seeking a Part time Payroll Officer to join them on a 9 month maternity cover contract working 25 hours per week based near St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Role Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and dynamic Payroll Officer to work 25 hours per week (there is flexibility on days/hours to suit circumstances). The successful candidate will ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance with legislation, and support our finance and HR teams with various tasks for 2 group companies. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Collate, approve, and submit monthly payroll for UK and Ireland to outsourced payroll providers. Ensure timely and accurate processing. Data Entry & Reconciliation: Accurately enter payroll data into the finance system, complete necessary reconciliations, and resolve any issues. Compliance: Ensure all payroll returns and payments (P11d, P60s, P46s) are made within required timescales. Vehicle & Driver Records: Record changes to vehicle, driver, and fuel card details, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Holiday System: Act as a main point of contact for holiday system queries. Audit & Projects: Assist with yearly statutory audits and other ad hoc projects as directed by the Financial Controller. Required Knowledge & Skills: Payroll Expertise: Essential knowledge of UK payroll; Irish payroll knowledge is advantageous. Technical Skills: Proficiency in O365 (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook). Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of chart of accounts, reconciliations, journal processing, and data processing – this is essential Attention to Detail: High level of confidentiality and meticulous attention to detail. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal Skills: Confident in dealing with employees and colleagues at all levels. Education & Experience: Experience with payroll software; Previous experience in a standalone UK based payroll role is essential Relevant payroll or accounting qualification preferred. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role dealing with UK payroll This role will be required to start towards the end of April to allow for a suitable handover period.
