Position Title: Mechanical Contracts Manager Location: London Employment Type: Permanent Overview The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple projects, from pre-construction through to final completion. This role involves ensuring work is carried out to high standards, managing resources and costs effectively, and maintaining strong, ongoing relationships with clients. The Contracts Manager will act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle and will collaborate closely with internal departments, particularly the commercial team. Key Responsibilities * Oversee day-to-day project activities, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality workmanship. * Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to project specifications. * Develop, update, and issue project programmes. * Assist with material take-offs, scheduling, and procurement processes. * Plan and manage labour resources, ensuring cost control and alignment with budgets. * Coordinate engineer pricing and labour rates, ensuring cost efficiency. * Review and authorise monthly engineer payments based on verified progress. * Prepare and submit client applications for payment, including variations throughout the project duration. * Ensure timely production and compliance of Risk Assessments and Method Statements. * Enforce company Health & Safety, environmental, and operational policies across all sites. * Contribute to technical submissions and documentation as required. * Compile and issue Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals upon project completion. * Support post-completion activities, including defect resolution and coordination with the After-Sales team. Skills & Attributes * Methodical and well-organised with strong attention to detail * Effective leadership and team management skills * Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities * Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal * Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Qualifications & Experience * Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar project or contracts management role * HNC/HND in Mechanical Services or a related discipline * Practical experience within the mechanical services industry (e.g. plumbing or equivalent trade) * Valid CSCS card * First Aid at Work certification * SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certified * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.) Working Conditions * Combination of site-based and office-based work * Occasional travel to project locations and client meetings * Participation in regular project and cost review meetings
