Empowering Learning are recruiting for a HLTA for a happy and inclusive primary school in Newham. They are looking for a HLTA to work with 3 SEND students in KS2 who all are working on the national curriculum but at a lower level than their peers. Under the direction of the teacher, you will plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities with these students.

Higher level teaching assistants (HLTAs) do all the things that regular teaching assistants do but they have an increased level of responsibility. For example, HLTAs teach classes on their own, cover planned absences and allow teachers time to plan and mark.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Have English and maths skills at level 2 or equivalent.
  • Have experience of working as a teaching assistant.
  • Level 4 certificate for HLTAs desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication, organisation and teaching abilities.
  • Adaptable and possess good subject knowledge.
