Academics are actively looking for an experienced HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) for a lovely school in Hatfield. The school is looking for a HLTA who has experience working with students with special educational needs. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced HLTA starting from September.

Location: Watford

Pay: £90 to £115 per day depending on experience

HLTA duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher, and small group intervention and lesson cover across KS3 and KS4.
  • Preparing lesson plans, teaching classes and reporting on student progress.
  • Preparing classrooms for lessons and sourcing books and handouts for students.
  • Teaching classes unassisted, especially when teachers are ill or on leave.
  • Planning and delivering learning and enrichment activities, either with teachers or independently.
  • Working with small groups of students or individuals needing special attention.
  • Developing specialist curricula in areas of interest.
  • Assessing students' progress and discussing development with teachers, parents and carers.
  • Consoling students who are unwell, injured or upset.
  • Supervising student groups on excursions and at sporting events.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum Level 4 HLTA Qualification.
  • Desired Level 6 Diploma in Teaching and Learning.
  • Desired experience working within a secondary school.
  • Experience and confidence covering lessons.
  • Able to plan and deliver small group intervention.
