My client is a well established operation who own their own fleet of Coaches and have an in house workshop to service these vehicles and also provide these services to external customers for PSV’s and HGV’s. This is a new role as part of their expansion. They are seeking an individual who has managed a similar facility but specifically for PSV’s and HGV’s, is a qualified mechanic but who is used to managing workload, managing a small team etc. The role is Monday to Friday managing a team of 4 including mechanics and an Administrator. Based in Hayes, Middx, the role will include:

  • Responsible for staffing levels, recruitment, training, management, communication, absence and performance management of all engineering staff
  • Organising rota's to cover from 6 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
  • To maintain the coach fleet to the highest achievable standard so as to ensure maximum vehicle availability, and any other legal or compliance requirements to minimise vehicle down time.
  • Liaise with manufacturers for warranty issues, deal with customer requirements
  • MOT tests and other legal or compliance requirements to minimise vehicle down-time.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations for maintenance of operators’ licence.
  • Liaise with Operations team to schedule maintenance down-time for minimum impact on vehicle availability.
  • Administer the vehicle defect reporting system to ensure effective and efficient administration as record keeping and processing paperwork is an essential part of this role.
  • Undertake planned and preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Manage and undertake all vehicle servicing to manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Diagnose all reported faults.
  • Maintain statutory required level of Health & Safety for workshop and all that enter the environment.
  • Source, order parts and supplies as necessary.
  • Building Relationships with external clients using the facility.
