I am seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Food Safety Compliance Manager to oversee all aspects of food safety within my clients Technical department based in Birmingham. This role is instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of food safety and compliance across site.

Description

  • HACCP Member
  • To review and up-date the Quality System that complies with all standards required by the regulatory authorities.
  • To support the continuous improvement of a good Food Safety Culture, and the Food Safety Business Plan.
  • Key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day duties including the Technical Team and supporting being audit ready at all times.
  • Corrective actions are put in place to ensure technical integrity and standards are maintained at all times.
  • To work in partnership with a range of high-profile customers, ensuring and promoting best practice.
  • Reacting and pro-actively planning for technical demands that arise as the sites grow.
  • Monitor compliance against all legal entities.
  • Co-Supporting customer visits and complaints (root cause analysis, trending, interface with customers).
  • Lead or deputise when the Group Technical Manager is not on site.
  • Maintain the specification database and ensure the highest quality standards are met through robust quality practices.
  • Monitor the quality and safety aspects of purchased products.
  • To provide technical assistance to the product development team.
  • To liaise with operations and ensure compliance with good housekeeping KPI's.
  • To contribute fully to the continuous improvement in business performance as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Support the internal auditing management system.
  • Setting QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.
  • Assessing the product specifications of the company and its suppliers, and comparing with customer requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation.
  • Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures.
  • Observing technical staff in carrying out tests and checks.
  • Mentoring positive change to employees to incorporate improved quality methods.
  • Establishing standards of service for customers or clients.
  • Root Cause Analysis mentality for internal close out of raised non-conformances.

Profile

A successful Food Safety Compliance Manager/Quality Manager should have:

  • Ideally, a recognised qualification in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role within Food Manufacturing.
  • Profound knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
