Design Engineering Manager

Electronics Design Engineering Manager Location:North West Our client is seeking a passionate and skilled Electronics Design Engineering Manager to lead their electronics team in delivering innovative lighting solutions for commercial and industrial applications. This is a key leadership role at the heart of their R&D efforts, combining hands-on technical work with team management, product strategy, and cross-functional collaboration. About the Role As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee the development of electronics systems across the lighting product portfolio—from concept through to production. You’ll guide a talented team of engineers, manage project timelines, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable electronics designs. Your expertise in circuit design, embedded systems, and LED control will help our client stay at the forefront of lighting innovation. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and manage the electronics design team, providing technical direction and mentorship. * Oversee the design and development of LED drivers, control systems, and power electronics. * Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. * Collaborate with product managers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics into final products. * Review and approve technical documentation, schematics, PCB layouts, and test plans. * Support continuous improvement in design processes, testing, and quality assurance. * Stay informed on emerging technologies, standards, and industry trends. What You’ll Need: * Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field. * Proven experience in electronics design for lighting or similar industries. * Strong knowledge of power electronics, SMPS, embedded systems, and lighting control protocols (e.g., DALI, DMX, 0-10V). * Previous experience leading or managing engineering teams. * Proficiency with design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, SPICE). * Strong organisational and communication skills. Desirable: * Experience with wireless controls (e.g., Zigbee, Bluetooth, Casambi). * Knowledge of EMC compliance and regulatory standards. * Background in design for manufacture and automated testing.
