Empowering Learning require several Creative Teaching Assistants to work within a Primary school supporting children with SEN needs in Durham. There is an emphasis on engaging the students through sensory and messy play which is why creative teaching assistants are required.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant qualification and experience
- Be responsive, flexible and sensitive to the differing needs of pupils, including those with SEND needs
- Be able to support students with ASC and SEMH needs
- Have experience of behaviours that challenge
- Have experience of sensory and messy play
- Be willing to assist with some aspects of personal care
- Have a good imagination and enthusiasm for sensory orientated activities
- Experience of PECS and Makaton would be an advantage
- Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
