In this role you will be performing Bacteriology testing in support of DEFRA and the devolved government’s scanning surveillance policies.
Key Tasks:
- Culture of different organisms (e.g. E. coli, Salmonella spp., Staph aureus, Brucella spp., Champylobacter spp., Mycoplasmas or TB) on specialist media isolated from a wide range of biological samples (e.g. faeces, tissues, swabs or food samples).
- Bacterial identification.
- Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers.
- Submission registration using LIMS software.
- Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities.
- Working to ISO17025.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of culturing of bacterial isolates.
- A degree in a related scientific field.
- Experience in techniques related to general bacteriology/Microbiology.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Software.
