Principal Safety Engineer

Your Responsibilities:
Conduct safety analysis activities such as HAZOPs, FFA, FTA, and FMECA in line with NG safety processes and guidance from Def Stan 00-056 and IEC61508.
Generate safety requirements ensuring system design meets customer’s safety targets and derived safety targets.
Present complex safety arguments to internal and external stakeholders, influencing safety decisions.
Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to uphold the company’s reputation by delivering high-quality outputs.
Support audits during internal and external design reviews and safety committee meetings.
Your Experience:
Proven experience in Systems Safety within the UK Defence industry.
Degree, HND, or HNC in Engineering or Safety Management related discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Safety Engineering.
Familiarity with international and defence standards such as IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056.
Knowledge of safety assurance of COTS PE-based systems or high-integrity software.
Experience in safety/reliability analysis techniques including hazard identification, FMECA, FTA, and Functional Failure Analysis.
Understanding of tools and techniques used in Risk Assessments and developing ALARP justifications.
