Principal Reliability & Safety Engineer Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Package: £75,000 – £98,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Let us introduce the role AWE is currently recruiting for a Principal Reliability & Safety Engineer within the Capital Engineering group. Are you looking for a new challenge in the world of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)? We have a unique opportunity working alongside AWE’s discipline leaders for some of UK’s largest Construction Projects collaborating with UK and International major Nuclear Designers. Working on a wide breadth of AWE’s portfolio in terms of technical complexity and various projects at all different stages of their life cycle. Acting as an internal consultant to AWE you will have the opportunity to visit our multitude of unique nuclear facilities promoting the discipline within AWE community. Who are we looking for? We’d love to hear from individuals with an in-depth knowledge of regulations and standards and capable of applying experience to a diverse range of buildings and processes. The suitable candidate will have extensive experience in designing and application for Safety and Reliability engineering in large complex production or manufacturing organisations preferably within a highly regulated industry. Essential Requirements: Proven AR&M plus safety engineering experience, ideally, within the nuclear industry Good knowledge of Reliability concepts and techniques, e.g. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA); Safety Integrity Level (SIL), CCF/CMF, and PFD calculations Application of appropriate maintainability/maintenance strategy e.g., preventative, corrective, pre-determined, condition based etc Substantiation of safety systems ensuring designs satisfy safety targets e.g. SSFR’s Predicted Reliability performance of plant/process designs using appropriate techniques e.g., dynamic Reliability Block Simulation (RBD), Markov, Chi Square and Weibull analysis Experience of using operational data usage to conduct in service plant/process Reliability performance analysis and recommendations for improvement Familiarity with Reliability and Dependability BS EN; AQAP; DEF Standards. Related Standards e.g., IEC 61508 Comfortable navigating Failure rate data sources Relevant Engineering Degree (minimum HNC/HND) in an Engineering discipline Desirable Experience: Membership of an appropriate professional institute preferably at Chartered Engineer level Experience in interfacing with Regulators at a corporate level Use of Software packages including Availability Workbench, Reliability Workbench & FaultTree+, RAMP Some reasons we think you’ll love it here: 9-day working fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave. Proven experience in Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)
Extensive knowledge of safety engineering principles
