Overall purpose of job
To manage the performance of the branch focusing on key areas within the post office strategy. This includes profitability, supporting the local community and increasing footfall for other services and activities within the Arc and the wider Ongo teams.

Main responsibilities
- Manage branch resources (e.g. all controllable costs), constantly monitoring performance and financial indicators, and taking action as necessary, in order to achieve a branch contribution.
- Recruit, develop and motivate the branch team. Manage their performance to create a knowledgeable, skilled and engaged team. This will encourage colleagues to exceed in their role (working together or alone) to deliver the department’s goals and objectives, as well as the highest standards of customer service.
- Support, coach and develop the team to effectively demonstrate compliance with both post office and Ongo business specific procedures and legislation.
- Encourage team involvement in local events to promote the Arc & Ongo’s services and activities. To ensure the branch is a focal point of the local community and that the Arc and Ongo’s values and social goals are realised.
- Regular contact with your Area Manager to discuss and identify opportunities and actions to enhance the performance of the branch. This is to include marketing activity, promotional initiatives and events and PR.
Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- At least 2 years of Post Office experience essential
- A good level of people management skills
- Ability to understand and analyse key financial indicators and make appropriate decisions
- Excellent communication skills
- Local community knowledge
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven track record of driving sales within a fast paced industry
- Motivator and developer of people
- Computer literate
- Ability to solve problems and ensure positive outcomes
- Experience of dealing with difficult situations and customer complaints to a satisfactory outcome
- Can build strong relationships with both customers, local businesses and internal colleagues
