The Role:
Portico are looking to recruit Port Operatives to join our team in Portsmouth to engage in the mooring/unmooring of vessels, the movement of vehicles and passengers through the Port, operating plant, and equipment safely and responsibly. Working as our Port Operative, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team within the maritime industry and develop yourself in an environment that is fast-paced and ever-changing. The successful applicant will need to be available to work shifts on days, evenings and weekends, with minimum shifts of 3 hours and up to 12 hours per shift, depending on business requirements.
As part of the Port Services Operations team, you will be responsible for:
- Working as part of the ferry and cruise handling team support with the discharge and loading of our vessels.
- Safely and efficiently handle all types of cargo during port operations.
- Authorised to take part in mooring/unmooring operations and to operate cargo handling plant and port infrastructure including Forklift Trucks, Telehandlers, Tug Masters.
- Ensure good housekeeping on the Port as directed by supervisors.
- Work flexibly to permit full operational benefit of labour.
About You:

- Experience in using a variety of equipment including Tug Masters (desirable) and Forklift Trucks (essential).
- Full clean driving licence.
- HGV Class 1 is desirable.
- Proven previous experience within the maritime / cruise sector (desired) or another sector, preferable in operations.
- Resilient with the ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
- Flexibility to work at all times of day and outside.
- Strong customer service experience and communication skills.
