Salary: To £30k determined by level of experience

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 9-5:15pm with 1 hour lunch break

The Opportunity

Flowers Associates are currently recruiting for a Pensions Administrator ideally with a proven track record of dealing with high profile SIPP and/or SSAS clientele. This reputable, supportive company offers the opportunity for the pensions administrator to study a range of Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications, paid for by the company with mentor support and additional time off for exams.

The Role:

To undertake all aspects of the administration for a portfolio of high-profile SIPP/SSAS Clientele. The successful Pensions Administrator will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

  • Manage and prioritise own workflow and outstanding tasks, whilst maintaining a full and efficient diary system
  • Communicate with clients, financial Advisors, Solicitors, Accounts, HM Revenue and Customs, Fund Managers, Insurance Companies and other professionals connected by letter, telephone, email, and fax with the occasional attendance at client meetings with a senior colleague when required
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of current pensions legislation as well as compliance with HMRC, legislative and internal procedures
  • Have an awareness of and be compliant with FCA regulations, Anti-money laundering and Data protection issues
  • Establish new schemes, application form process, cancellation notices and waiver forms, anti-money laundering documentation, trust deeds, expression of wish forms, opening and maintaining bank accounts as well as maintaining computer records and paper files
  • Generate invoice requests and assist the accounts department with fee collection where necessary
  • Maintain and update records regarding member details, asset details, contribution details, transfer, and transactions details, etc.
  • Deal with contributions and tax refunds through standing orders for regular contributions, annual allowances, evidence of earnings, etc.
  • Purchase and sale of assets; banking of cheques, completion of cheque ledger, reconciliation of bank accounts, shares, property and borrowing, loan backs, etc.
  • Property purchase; single/joint/part purchase, feasibility study, borrowing calculations, liaising with solicitors and mortgage providers, etc.
  • Illustrations and Valuations; Annual valuation (SSAS), Statutory Money Purchase Illustration (SIPP), COBS 19.4 illustrations (SIPP)
  • Transfers in and out – protected rights and no protected rights
  • Benefits; retirement and death benefit calculations, lifetime allowance checks, pension reviews, etc.
  • Reporting; registering new schemes with HMRC (SSAS)
  • Assist with collation of information for HMRC of the following: event reports, accounting for tax returns, pensions scheme returns, self-assessment tax return
  • SSAS Deeds and SIPP Deeds
  • Scheme closure activities of transfers out of scheme, winding up scheme
  • Pensions and divorce; pension sharing and earmarking

The Candidate

Display a proven track record of dealing professionally with SIPP and/or SASS clientele with previous experience in an office-based setting, working collaboratively with other pensions administrators OR have experience gained in some form within a Wealth Management / IFA setting. Knowledge of operating within a Financially Regulated environment is key. Pensions especially SSAS and SSIP ideal.

You will be highly organised and methodical with exceptional mathematical skills. It is required that the pensions administrator can monitor their own workflow and prioritise outstanding work with excellent time management skills. Finally, the candidate will have proven, strong IT skills, Microsoft package knowledge including Excel.
