This requirement has occurred again due to expansion of the NDT team. Are you an NDT technician looking for a new challenge and want to work in the rail sector? Are you someone who enjoys working as part of a team, but would also relish a more autonomous career within non-destructive testing? If so, we have an excellent opportunity to be part of my client's small NDT team based in Derby. This position offers the perfect blend of teamwork and autonomy. You will be part of a close-knit group that collaborates to deliver high-quality services, yet you will also have the independence to manage your tasks. This balance ensures that your professional growth is supported while allowing you the freedom to excel.

You will carry out NDT of weld repairs on rolling stock, and collaborate closely with my client's small team of welders. My client specializes in providing a wide array of services to the rail rolling stock industry, including repair, overhaul, consultancy, testing, and training. With expertise dating back to 1994, they have established themselves as a trusted partner for many of the rail industry's largest and most renowned companies. Their order book is expanding - an exciting time to join!

Job requirements
  • PCN Level 2 certification in UT & MT (welds). VT experience is desirable; training can be given to gain certification.
  • Willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Full driving license

  • Confident in advocating for solutions and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Possesses strong critical thinking skills and maintains a positive outlook.

  • Work to be carried out on and off-site.
  • Setting up and calibrating Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment.
  • Conducting NDT on welds, structures, and materials using appropriate techniques according to relevant standards and procedures.
  • Interpreting and evaluating test results in compliance with established acceptance criteria.
  • Preparing clear and concise test reports.
  • Demonstrating a high level of integrity and professionalism at all times.
  • Maintaining NDT equipment.
