An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive HR professional to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment within a high-profile sporting organisation based in Wigan. This is a fantastic role for an HR generalist looking to make a real impact by delivering a comprehensive, efficient and people-focused service across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
The Opportunity:
As the HR Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality HR services across the organisation, supporting strategic and operational goals. You'll work closely with managers to implement people initiatives that attract, retain and develop top talent, while also maintaining best practices in compliance, wellbeing, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Support: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and deliver workforce planning and people strategies. Drive people-focused projects from research and analysis through to implementation, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and measurable results. Maintain and enhance HR policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal standards.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, from job postings to offer stage. Coordinate onboarding, including contract preparation, system setup, payroll handover, and induction processes. Support initiatives around employee recognition, wellbeing, benefits, and engagement. Facilitate training and development activities and assist with succession planning and performance management frameworks. Manage offboarding processes including exit interviews, final payroll coordination, and IT/equipment returns.
- Employee Relations: Provide advice and support to line managers on all aspects of employee relations including absence management, performance, disciplinary, grievance, and contractual matters. Promote a positive workplace culture through open communication and wellbeing initiatives. Act as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns and contribute to wider group HR initiatives.
- HR Analytics & Compliance: Analyse workforce data to identify trends and drive data-informed decisions. Ensure processes meet audit requirements and reflect industry best practice. Maintain accurate HR records and reporting in line with GDPR and internal standards.
About You:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Working towards or already hold CIPD Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a generalist HR role within a commercially-focused environment.
- Solid knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Strong experience in managing employee relations cases to resolution.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, and workforce data analysis.
