Job Title: Head of Projects

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Head of Projects to join the team, ideally located in London, however open to other areas.

Purpose Of The Job

Own and deliver the business unit project plan, developing and leading teams in the safe delivery of projects ensuring sufficient training and development of talent. Have overall responsibility for generating a sales pipeline to deliver revenue to the BU and ensuring projects are secured and delivered on time and within the financial requirements and margins specified by the business. Build external relationships with clients and supply partners to deliver major projects. Ensure that all projects adhere to and are managed according to commercial agreements/contracts compliant with statutory regulations, are QHSE compliant, and meet technical industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure the safe delivery of projects through the management of risk and competence.
  2. Recruit and retain talent for the present delivery and future growth of projects.
  3. Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities.
  4. Deliver contractual commitments on secured projects.
  5. Ensure projects are delivered on all maintenance contracts.
  6. Complete projects in line with local playbooks on time, on budget, and to the satisfaction of all parties.
  7. Identify, reduce, and manage all risks associated with each project.
  8. Maximise profit through cost reductions and better buying of subcontractor services.
  9. Plan and develop long-term opportunities by creating a pipeline of opportunities.
  10. Liaise with colleagues to identify project opportunities and create case studies to promote business.
  11. Develop and manage all bids, tenders, and proposals.
  12. Generate and secure new sales to exceed the annual financial plan.
  13. Seek out opportunities to generate projects through innovation and different technologies.
  14. Lead the sales process through solutions development, participation in presentations, and consultation meetings.
  15. Identify and win projects through effective relationships.
  16. Deliver supportive business communication through advice, review, leadership, and contributions to management team meetings and reporting.
  17. Promote and maintain the core values of CBRE.
  18. Support development of team members.
  19. Contribute to Business Unit strategy development.
  20. Deliver wider strategy and new process delivery across projects business ensuring compliance with governance.
  21. Manage Business Unit forecast and people issues.
  22. Negotiate contractual obligations and disputes.
  23. Chair monthly and ad hoc project review meetings covering Health & Safety/CDM Legislation.

Accountabilities

  1. Accountability to the Business Unit Leader (directly) and Divisional Project Director (indirectly).
  2. Generation of project opportunities by building strong working relationships with customers and site teams.
  3. Full P&L responsibility for Business Unit.
  4. Accountable as line manager for others.
  5. Compliance with CBRE management policies and procedures.
  6. Ensure compliance with CBRE health and safety policy and process, regularly audited and reviewed.

Person Specification

Education

  1. Recognised technical qualification in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar (desirable).
  2. Degree level qualification in Project Management (desirable).

Training

  1. Degree level qualification in project management, construction management or equivalent (desirable).
  2. Business standard of written and verbal literacy and numeracy.
  3. APM certified (desirable).
  4. Prince 2 certified (desirable).
  5. CDM regulations.
  6. SMSTS certified.
  7. Nebosh certified.
  8. CSCS card holder.
  9. IOSH (desirable).

Experience

  1. Proven track record safely delivering exceptional projects in M&E, FM, construction, or critical environments.
  2. Experience of developing new project opportunities.
  3. Proven experience of running a P&L.
  4. Demonstrable evidence of managing a team.
  5. Experience of creating, presenting, and managing bids, tenders, and proposals.
